Eat, Taste, Walk

After taking a guided tour of Seattle’s Pike Place Market, Ridgely’s Delight resident and graphics designer Sharon Reuter had an epiphany. “Bing! The light bulb went on. I knew in my mind this was something I could do,” she says. The result? Charm City Chews, which launched in May. (Another gustatory adventure, Charm City Foods, also started this year.) Reuter likes to lead tours of six to eight people (organized groups and families receive a $5 discount off the $55 per person price) to keep from overwhelming small eateries like Max’s Empanadas and Isabella’s in Little Italy, where she recently took visitors. She keeps her walks to 2½ hours, which, that day, featured nibbles like gnocchi in Gorgonzola cream sauce at La Tavola, filet-mignon sliders at Mustang Alley’s Bar, Bowling and Bistro, and a mini cannoli and pine-nut cookies at Piedigrotta Bakery. For future meanderings, Reuter plans to go “off the beaten path,” making stops that will appeal to locals who have already done the “regular places.”
