Keswick Multi-Care Center, with 174 long-term care beds and a 68-bed Transitional Care Unit, provides skilled nursing care and adult day-care services in a comfortable, safe environment. Keswick also offers its Memory Care Assisted Living Program for people with all levels of dementia, and has 44 Memory Care Assisted Living beds. All rooms are private.

Also on the grounds is a 400-plus-unit nursing home providing long-term nursing care, rehabilitation, hospice care, senior day center, and home care. Located on 132 acres in the hills of the Shenandoah Valley, The Village at Orchard Ridge is a new retirement community under construction with a completion date of early 2013. Phase One of construction will offer 178 maintenance-free independent living cottage homes and apartments with home-based assisted living, memory support, assisted living, and nursing-care options. Amenities include walking paths, fitness facility, casual and restaurant-style dining, pub, library, chapel, local transportation, and housekeeping, as well as social, recreational, educational, cultural and spiritual opportunities.

The Village at Rockville, located on 30-acres in suburban Rockville, offers independent living, home- and community-based services, short-term rehabilitation, respite, long-term skilled nursing, and hospice. Currently undergoing a renovation, the campus will soon include private assisted-living suites and memory-care suites. Amenities include walking trails, hair salon, café, library, bank, chapel, onsite physicians, life-enrichment programs and more.

Willow Valley Retirement Communities (CCRC), 600 Willow Valley Sq., Lancaster, PA, 800-770-5445, willowvalleyretirement.com. 2,300-resident community on two adjoining campuses offers a neighborhood atmosphere with independent living apartments, townhomes, assisted living, skilled nursing, and lifecare program. 80,000-square-foot cultural center with art gallery, 500-seat performing arts theater drawing first-rate entertainers, large art studio, pools and fitness center, dining room and café, over 100 clubs, academic programs, close to shopping, shuttle service.

Bay Creek Resort and Club, 3335 Stone Rd., Cape Charles, VA, 757-331-8742, www.baycreek.net. A new residential golf and marina community being developed on the southwestern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula, Bay Creek appeals to both primary and secondary homeowners, and features a 7,204-yard Arnold Palmer golf course, plus a Jack Nicklaus course, and a 124-slip deep-water-access marina, all located on a 1,729-acre waterfront tract. Lots are priced from $40,000 inland to $1.7 million on the water, and homes are priced from $209,000 for condos and $269,000-$1.6 million for single-family units.

The Gateway Grand, 2 48th Street, Ocean City, 888-400-6275, thegatewaygrand.com. The Gateway Grand is a high-rise condominium community that offers more than 250 feet of beach and oceanfront views. Homes, priced from $699,900, consist of three and four-bedrooms with gourmet kitchens, marble master bathrooms, private balconies or patios, and controlled-access parking.
