Take the holiday food test

How many calories will you save if you eat a baked sweet potato instead of the sweet-potato casserole? Which type of fudge has fewer calories? Test your knowledge at the SparkPeople website, which promotes healthy lifestyles.

I learned about the site in a weekly e-mail newsletter called "Lean and Fit" by The Washington Post. The e-letter offers helpful nutrition and fitness advice and low-cal recipes. It’s a short, fun read, and useful.

But back to the test, here’s a question to get you started: If you made chocolate-chip cookies with half the chips called for in a recipe, how many calories would you save per cookie? Answer choices: 22, 42, 62, or 12.

Take the test to find out the answer, or I’ll post it later.
