When cooking priest Father Leo Patalinghug of Emmitsburg was pitted against Bobby Flay on a Food Network Throwdown show in 2009, he had no idea that he would win the fajita challenge against the celeb chef or that his recipe would be featured in the new cookbook, Bobby Flay's Throwdown!: More Than 100 Recipes from Food Network's Ultimate Cooking Challenge.
Both Father Leo’s and Flay’s steak fajita recipes are in the book (around $16 on amazon.com) as well as regional specialties from around the country, like puffy tacos from San Antonio, Philadelphia cheese steaks, fried chicken and waffles from Harlem, and coconut cake from Charleston, SC.
Father Leo, a professor of pastoral theology at Mt. Saint Mary’s Seminary, is also a published author. The third edition of his book, Grace before Meals: Recipes and Inspiration for Family Meals and Family Life, was released in July.
What's next, Father Leo?
