The James Beard Foundation announced today the semifinalists in restaurants and chefs for the 2011 James Beard awards. Cindy Wolf, chef/co-owner of Charleston, was nominated for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic. She’s been nominated before. Maybe this will be her year.
Also nominated was Charleston for Outstanding Service and Outstanding Wine Service with a mention of co-owner Tony Foreman.
Pretty impressive. There were a record 28,000 online nominations this year, according to the James Beard Foundation. The long list of semifinalists will be narrowed down to finalists on March 21. From that group, the winners will be announced on May 9 in New York.
