It’s time to feast on striped bass—or, rather, rockfish as it’s known around here. Rockfish Celebration week, sponsored by the Downtown Partnership, begins on Thursday, Feb. 17, and continues until Feb. 28.
To date, 20 restaurants will be offering special rockfish dishes on their menus. Here are some of the offerings. Warning: You may be hungry after reading this!
La Scala—Rockfish San Remo, a rockfish fillet topped with seasoned bread crumbs, oven baked, then topped with fresh tomatoes and basil in a white-wine sauce.
Lebanese Taverna—Farm-raised rockfish, saffron couscous and chickpea pilaf, grilled vegetables, crispy onions, and citron sauce.
The Oceanaire—Pan-seared Maryland rockfish cakes, served over baby arugula with herbed lemon aioli and oven-roasted tomato-and-caper relish.
Phillips, Inner Harbor—Roast rockfish with lobster mashed potatoes, shiitake mushrooms, sugar-snap peas, and lemon butter sauce.
The Prime Rib—Blackened Chesapeake rockfish, fresh fillets coated and seared with low-sodium Cajun spices.
Roy’s—Three-course, all rockfish, prix-fixe menu, $55, includes an entree of Parmesan-crusted rockfish with lobster potato risotto and crab bisque.
