The “Ace of Cakes” series finale aired last week without much fanfare—but with a most appropriate cake. Baltimorean Duff Goldman and his crew made a DeLorean cake, pictured, for “Back to the Future’s” 25th anniversary, according to eater.com.
The website quoted Duff as saying, “We had almost every technique we taught ourselves on one cake: open flames, electronics, smoke machines, flavor, piping, painting, 3-D design, everything about it was a culmination of the things that we've learned.”
And while the Food Network show ended its successful 10-season run, that’s not the end of Duff and his Charm City Cakes staff on the tube. There are other shows in the works, including one about the opening of a West Coast location in LA.
Don’t worry, though. Charm City Cakes will continue operating in Baltimore, too.
In our April issue, we talk to Mary Alice Yeskey, Duff’s office manager and longtime friend, who is taking on new duties at the Remington bakery, while being a working mom for the first time.
