Manchurian Rice Co.—a "higher end Asian" casual grill—is moving into the Harbor East spot that was occupied by Harbor News (which I still miss) at the corner of Aliceanna Street and Central Avenue. The food, featuring Chinese, Thai, and Japanese favorites, will have high-quality ingredients and be made to order, one of the investors said.
A mezzanine has been added to the space, and there will be indoor and outdoor seating. There also will be carryout and delivery available. Look for an opening at the end of summer.
And, no, HBO isn't filming the construction of the restaurant, but the production trailers for the HBO film "Game Change" are parked on Central Avenue outside my window near the new restaurant. I'd love to know where they're filming.
The miniseries is about John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign and features Julianne Moore, Ed Harris, and Woody Harrelson. I keep hoping I'll catch a glimpse.
One of the trailers has doors marked, "Lucy" and "Desi." Maybe I should just go stand there.
