Chef Kevin Miller is launching Copper Kitchen, a full-service catering company, in Federal Hill. It's in full swing right now, but an official kickoff will be held in June, Kevin said when I talked to him today.
I saw Kevin on WBAL-TV on Sunday morning (cooking rockfish) and he mentioned Copper Kitchen on the air. Of course, I missed what it was, so I called him this afternoon to find out what's going on.
He's been working with his partner Jen DeVos at Widespread Concierge Services since 2009 before spinning off this latest joint venture. "I'm really happy with what we're doing," he said. "It was time to do something else."
Kevin, a Frederick native, worked at the award-winning Ixia for eight years until the restaurant closed in June 2009.
He is catering all sorts of events from upscale dinners and wine tastings to barbecues with his sous chef Nicole Feldhaus. He's also offering private chef services.

Recently, I had a chance to sample Kevin's cuisine at a grilled-cheese contest to benefit Moveable Feast. His sandwich, a Dutch Toasty, was chosen as the "Professional Favorite."
