Three Maryland food trucks are competing to become America's favorite food truck: Miss Shirley's, pictured, The Wild Dog Cart, and Mark's Mobile Cuisine. There are 225 entries from around the country in the contest.
Vote online for your pick through Sept. 12. The winner will receive $10,000 and the opportunity to be on the Food Network show The Great Food Truck Race.
For the competition, Miss Shirley's has partnered with United Way of Central Maryland and pledged to donate its winnings to the nonprofit organization if it becomes the top truck.
You can check out Miss Shirley's and many other local trucks like The Silver Platter, Gypsy Queen Cafe, and Kooper's Chowhound Burger Wagon at the third Gathering of food trucks on Friday (Sept. 2).
The event will again be held at 901 S. Wolfe St., across from Red Star restaurant in Fells Point. There will live music and wine and beer for sale.
The Wild Dog Cart sells its gourmet hot dogs in the Cockeysville area. Mark's Mobile Cuisine can be found in the Glen Burnie/Pasadena area.
