Breakfast and brunch

I'd like your input. For October, the magazine is doing a roundup of the best places to go for breakfast and brunch. I’ve come up with an ever-growing list, but I’d like your help, too, in case I've forgotten a contender. I’m looking for kid-friendly places, too.

Please let me know your favorites. Thanks.

  1. Gertrude's at the Baltimore Museum of Art for Sunday brunch!

  2.

  3. Breakfast Special - eggs, toast, bacon, and homefries & cup of coffee under $3.50. The Best!

  5. I'm a fan of teavolve's brunch. All fo the food I've tried has been good, there's a much broader selection of vegetarian choices than most places, and the tea-infused sangrias are half price (and delicious).

Also: I like Granny's in Owings Mills for one very important reason - they server chicken-n-waffles. They serve breakfast all day, but Sunday's are always extra busy.

  7. Am finally going to try Blue Moon tomorrow and will report back. Miss Shirley's OF COURSE is a strong contender in my book!

  9. LOVED Blue Moon! Went on July 4 at 8:30 a.m. and waited about 20 minutes for a table for six. Capt Crunch French Toast was festive with blueberries, strawberries and banana slices. The big winners were the hash browns, a paddle of shredded potatoes that where golden crispy on one side and perfectly seasoned on the other as well as a plate of huge biscuits covered with scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon AND sausage gravy. Our server, whose name escapes me, was quick with the coffee and friendly. Looking forward to your article!

  11. We love Blue Moon, also you should try Hull St Blues for their brunch buffet (we havent been there in a while, but it was delicious whenever we went)

  13. Have you tried Darker than Blue--I did. In a word "Fantastic"

  15. Darker than Blue Cafe-this cafe is a hidden treasure.
Sunday brunch was an epicurean delight from the ambrosial French toast with fresh plump berries to the succulent jerk chicken. Subtle hidden flavors had us offering our plates to each other for a sample taste. The owner Casey Jenkins personally cared for us just as he did all of his customers. The atmosphere was gentle and unhurried.

Baltimoreans are fortunate to have such a wondrous eatery which has everything...superb food, cultured atmosphere and gracious staff at a reasonable cost. We can't wait to visit again.

  17. Blue Moon remains consistent favorite ,well worth any wait. Great service, fabulous food, the best hash browns and coffee ever. No "misses" out of this kitchen, wait staff was cheerfully able to win the devotion of our picky Manhattan vegetarian who pronounced his selection to be just perfect.
Our server Gina was a real gem loaded with the personality and wit needed to navigate the morning crowd and manage to keep us all happy, well fed, and entertained as well! Great value, we'll all be back as regulars.

  19. Village Square Cafe in Village of Cross Keys. The Big Easy -- fried eggs on cheese grits w/ serrano ham -- out of this world.
