Moveable Feast’s fund-raiser on Thursday (Sept. 17) has particular meaning to me this year. First, if you’re not familiar with the nonprofit group, it delivers nutritious meals to people who are living with AIDS or breast cancer.
You can help by dining out on Thursday when many restaurants in the Baltimore area will donate at least [...]

I wrote about the fajita cook-off earlier this summer. Now, the day of reckoning is almost here. To show [...]

Yesterday, I went to see the movie Food, Inc., now playing at The Charles Theatre, hesitantly. I was worried it would change the way I view food and what I eat. And it did.
Several people have told me they don’t want to see the movie for the same reason. But I hope they will change [...]

It’s not too early to make reservations at one of the 90-plus restaurants taking part in restaurant week, which runs Aug. 7-16 this year. The popular restaurants fill up quickly. And it’s such a great deal—three-course dinners for $30.09.
Many of the restaurants also offer two-course lunches for $20.09 and have special wine deals and events. [...]

If you’ve wanted to go to Baltimore Pho (one of our top 50 restaurants this year) in SoWeBo, tonight would be a good time. I got an e-mail from Pho’s general manager Hollis Albert, who used to own Flip’s bar and restaurant at Clipper Mill, about an art opening tonight (July 9) at the restaurant.
In [...]

Take dad to Baltimore Coffee & Tea on Sunday, and he’ll receive a free medium coffee for Father’s Day. What a great gift—and just the right price!
You’ll find this promotion at the Timonium, Annapolis, Frederick locations. The Timonium store is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Happy Father’s Day.

Don’t miss the National Aquarium’s final event in its “Fresh Thoughts Dining Series” on Tuesday, June 23. It’s geared to families and sounds like a lot of fun. I checked the Weather Channel’s website and, yay, the forecast is for mostly sunny and a high of 85 degrees that day.
Here’s what you can expect besides [...]

God help him. Really! Earlier this week, Father Leo Patalinghug was summoned to Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmittsburg for a taping by the Food Network. He didn’t know any details. Then, the celebrity chef star of “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” was standing next to him.
But, first, some background on Father Leo. This Baltimore priest [...]

Sharpen your knives. Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters” starts tomorrow (June 10) at 10 p.m. But what’s really going to be fun is having a locally produced blog to turn to for all sorts of tidbits and recaps about this competition as well as the regular “Top Chef” challenge, when it starts again in the fall. [...]

If you can’t make it to the Waverly farmers’ market on Saturday mornings, there’s another option now. The Green Spring Station farmers’ market starts Saturday (June 6) with afternoon hours.
It goes from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will run through Nov. 21. There’s plenty of parking at the market, tucked between the Green Spring [...]
