Keep Em Busy...

Two especially great family events this weekend:

The Fells Point Family Fun Festival runs Saturday and Sunday and is perrenially among our favorite local events of the year. Besides all the usual festival stuff (food, music stages, craft vendors, etc.), this one has a couple things that set it apart: 1. Rides! I don't know why more local festivals don't do this (expense? space?) but FPFFS rents out carnival rides geared mostly to the 7 and under set—that's my set! 2. The Carnival of Wonders, a stage for exclusively kids entertainment. Few things make my kids as happy as magic shows, jugglers, etc. - and they've got that all day. In particular, they've got two performances each day by Professor's Horn's Punch and Judy Show (pictured). We saw this guy perform at Artscape last year and I seriously thought my kids were going to hurt themselves from laughing so hard. Can't wait to see him again!

Also, on Sunday at Rash Field by the Inner Harbor is a really special event called the Ultimate Block Party, all about getting kids to get out and play and learn. The first one of these was held last fall in New York an attracted 50,000 people. There was another one in Toronto in June and the third is here in Baltimore on Sunday! There will be 25 play stations, each one designed to help your kids learn through doing what comes naturally:playing and having fun. Can't wait...
