April 28: Ekiben x Rey Eugenio

Ekiben Sobo. 801 E. Fort Ave. 2-6 p.m.

The menu has dropped for Ekiben’s latest collab—and let’s just say you should stop reading now if you haven’t eaten lunch yet. This time, the team behind the beloved Asian-fusion spot is joining forces with chef Rey Eugenio, who has been blessing the community with his authentic Filipino fare for years. Dishes on deck this Sunday include charred sticky adobo ribs and lemongrass chicken, both served with garlic rice, cucumber kimchi, papaya slaw, and duck egg salad. There will also be orders of pork and shrimp shumai with mushroom XO sauce, as well as a savory mochi that fuses pork, shrimp, dried radish, and shallot. Hungry yet?

April 28: Bmore Flea at Peabody Heights Brewery

401 E. 30th St. 12-5 p.m. Free admission

Throughout the past few years, local thrifters have fallen for Bmore Flea—the roving vintage pop-up that recently announced it will be stationed at a new home, Harbor Point Plaza, every first and third Saturday of the month. This Sunday, the collective of more than 35 vendors will host a special event at Peabody Heights Brewery, featuring shopping, eats by Fuzzies Burgers, coffee by Spark Plug, permanent jewelry by Lucky Cat Jewels, video games at Peabody’s new adjacent arcade, The Dugout, and, of course, tons of sudsy brews. While you browse the racks for your new favorite T-shirt or accessory,  sip Peabody selects like the Thirstay pale ale, Destination pilsner, and the famous Old Oriole Park bohemian.

April 27: Independent Bookstore Day at The Ivy Bookshop

5928 Falls Rd. 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Free admission

Like many of our city’s lauded independent bookstores, The Ivy Bookshop is always there when we’re in need of a new read, local guidebook, or expert lit recommendation. So there’s no better way to show appreciation for the Falls Road fixture than by paying the team a visit on Independent Bookstore Day. To celebrate on Saturday, the store will offer a DIY mini book craft for kids (and coffee for adults) at 10 a.m.; a yoga class and poetry reading led by award-winning poet and yoga instructor Sebastian Merrill in the gardens at 2 p.m.; and a special happy hour with Johns Hopkins University’s poetry and performance club, Bluejays & Poets, from 4:30-7 p.m. Plus, there will be lawn games outside all day, as well as a plant sale with Brookfield Blooms.

April 27: 2024 Marquee Ball: Illusion

Creative Alliance. 3134 Eastern Ave. 8 p.m. $60-65

The Creative Alliance’s biggest fundraiser of the year—supporting its free youth education and community arts programs—is back, promising an evening full of thrills, magic, and wonderment that pays homage to The Patterson’s history as a movie palace. Consult the org’s Pinterest board for inspo on what to wear before heading to Highlandtown to enjoy illusionists, belly dancers, jugglers, escape artists, hula-hoopers, blackjack tables, and open galleries. There will also be eats by Our Time Kitchen and The Lunchbox Lady, as well as cocktails by local bartender Nick Pikounis. And with the horn-heavy sounds of Rufus Roundtree & Da B’more Brass Factory coming from the main stage, we can only expect the dance floor to be electric.
