Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week has officially begun. Starting today and running until next Thursday, February 14, fashion designers will be showing their fall 2013 collections to the important players of the fashion industry as well as other invited VIP guests and celebs. While most of these shows will be held at Lincoln Center, many will also be at private showrooms, studios, and other venues. There's no doubt that we are excited to see some of our repeated faves who never seem to disappoint, but are also looking forward to discovering fresh, emerging talent in the industry. Debuting last year, the Small Boutique Fashion Week (SBFW) is dedicated to showcasing the work of newer hand-picked designers, giving them the opportunity to connect and work with specialty boutiques and stylists. Keggy Pritsker—which consists of local designer Kerry Leikus...

Trophy Town

The Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy for the NFL is an iconic symbol of championship spirit and hard work. Additionally, it also represents great design, which we can thank none other than Tiffany & Co. for. Stretching back for over 40 years, the beloved premier jewelry brand has created the trophy that is presented to the winning team of the Super Bowl. The company also creates other trophies like The Pete Rozelle Trophy (MVP of the Super Bowl), The Lamar Hunt Trophy (champion of the American Football Conference), The George S. Halas Trophy (champion of the National Football Conference), as well as ones for other sporting events like the National Basketball Association Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, the World Series Trophy for Major League Baseball, and the U.S. Open Tennis Championship Trophies.

Here are some fun facts about the NFL Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy:

Get Pampered

A ladies’ night out can’t get much better than some complimentary beauty treatments…unless those beauty treatments are also eco-friendly and paired with tasty cocktails and dancing. Every first Friday of the month, Heidnseek Entertainment will be hosting a fashion, makeup, designer, and model mixer for ladies (and men) to come out and network, each with a special theme (the theme for February is “pampered”). There will be a sweet soundtrack to keep the night going as well as live photo shoots to help capture some of the beauties in attendance. Zina’s Day Spa and Salon will be providing complimentary services for this event, using only green products. Come out, have a drink, and maybe learn a few tips on how to pick the right (green) products for your morning beauty routine.

Spring Internship

I have no comedic talent whatsoever, so I write about fashion and trends; only the most serious topics interest a gal like me. I am currently pursuing a writing degree with a minor in mass communication from Towson University. Last fall I interned at Refinery29 Washington, D.C., which led me to Baltimore magazine and the experience has been nothing short of incredible. Growing up in Baltimore has given me a certain level of awareness about personal style. Everyone here has their own style, whether or not they are trendy—and it is this individuality that makes me really enjoying being at a publication that showcases this.
