What: “Toast to The League,” Saturday, June 12, 2010.

Friends and Neighbors: More than 250 people turned out to watch as The League for People with Disabilities honored Sen. Benjamin Cardin for his support of health-care initiatives and presented Janice Jackson, director of Women Embracing Abilities Now, with the Advocate of the Year Award. Ned Atwater of Atwater’s Bakery received the Corporate Advocate award, and Herbert Kasoff was named the 2010 Unsung Hero for his creation of a charity tennis tournament at Woodholme Country Club.

A Night Well Spent: The annual awards and advocacy dinner featured live entertainment and a silent auction and raised $34,000 for The League’s mission to provide opportunities for more than 2,000 children and adults with disabilities in Maryland.
