Even though this winter was particularly mild, it didn’t stop the colder months from taking a toll on our bodies. From dry, cracked skin to brittle hair and not-ready-for-summer feet, we all could use some work. Here are five spa treatments that will leave you feeling renewed for the warmer months ahead.
Problem: Static, brittle hair
Solution: ThermaFuse f450º amino-fusion smoothing treatment, $350 at La Clinica Salon & Day Spa, 1624 York Road, Timonium, 410-828-7464.
How it Works: This conditioning technique, which is free of formaldehyde and Keratin, works with amino acids already in your hair to strengthen and smooth out frizz. One treatment will last for three months.
Problem: Red, aggravated complexion
Solution: Darphin chamomile & honey soothing facial, $135 at About Faces, 1501 S. Clinton Street, 410-675-0099.
How it Works: There is a mild exfoliation, followed by a calming facial mask that blends shea butter and honey to relieve visible redness and achieve an even-toned complexion.
Problem: Mousy, dull hair color
Solution: Balayage highlighting treatment, $144 at Hudson & Fouquet Salon, 181 West Street, Annapolis, 410-263-9790.
How it Works: This method of highlighting gradually lightens the hair from root to tip, giving a more natural sun-kissed look. Because there are no foils, you have more control over the color, making it easy to add as much or as little as you want.
Problem: Rough, chapped feet
Solution: Warm paraffin foot treatment, $40 at Usha Salon and Day Spa, 827 E. Fort Avenue, 410-837-8742.
How it Works: After soaking your feet in hot water to open up the pores, layers of warm paraffin wax are applied and left to cool for five minutes. The wax will ultimately nourish your feet, soften cuticles, and deeply moisturize the skin.
Problem: Dry, cracked skin
Solution: The Signature Harbor Salt Scrub and Warm-Oil Massage, $225 at The Spa at Four Seasons, 200 International Drive, 410-223-1444.
How It Works: The sea-salt scrub will exfoliate all the dry skin cells from winter. Then, the warm oil will absorb directly into new skin to hydrate, and the full-body massage relaxes and releases tension.
