Feet on Fire

The new flat for fall is a little less feminine but super sleek.

Feet on Fire

Each season, a new flat becomes the must-have for every woman wanting a stylish, comfy alternative to the heel. We’ve seen variations such as ballet slippers, oxfords, and flat boots, each just as chic as their slightly taller counterparts. This year, smoking slippers have become that coveted flat. “It’s a strong look because of the menswear trend in clothing,” says Jody Kesner, manager of Stevenson’s Joanna Gray Shoes. A flat, being more of an everyday shoe, proves that versatility is key. “They pair nicely with skinny jeans, boyfriend jeans, or a fitted tuxedo jacket and trousers,” adds Kesner. Not only does this flat take you from the office to dinner, but also taps into all types of personal styles. “They are super versatile for skirts to jeans and everything in between,” says sales associate Angela Spagna of Harbor East’s Sassanova. “You can go from classic to avant garde.” Like all trends, the smoking slipper may pass, but nothing beats the thought of recycling these cozy beauties for your next luxurious at-home movie night.
