Let's Talk Shop

Well, hello. I've finally come up for air after a very busy few months (Bride, November Entertaining Guide, Gift Guide, December's Made in Baltimore feature) and realized it was finally time to start blogging. I'm hoping my blog will be a mixture of both shop news (new boutiques, sales, must have merchandise) and some inside information about shopping in Charm City (shop owner interviews, local shopping guides, Top 10 lists.) But the real question is—what do you want to hear about? What are your thoughts on retailers in Baltimore? What shops would you like to see in the city/county? I'll try to post as often as I can.

And here's a little background on me: I grew up in Frederick, Maryland back when it was more cows than Starbucks. I attended the University of Maryland’s College of Journalism and was active with the school’s daily newspaper the Diamondback. After graduation, I took an internship with Washingtonian magazine before landing a job at the Washington Post. I spent almost eight years at the paper, first working with the gossip column Reliable Source and Pulitzer Prize winning fashion reporter Robin Givhan before co-writing a party column called “Out & About” and later creating two shopping columns that ran weekly in the Style and Sunday Source sections. I also freelanced for Lucky magazine, contributing to their local coverage. In March 2006, I became Lifestyle Editor here at Baltimore magazine. Basically I'm in charge of all the big photo shoots—fall and spring fashion, entertaining guide and gift guide, styling the magazine covers and putting together my monthly shopping pages—along with special sections like Bride and Home & Garden.

Thanks again for welcoming me to the world of blogging. Let's get started.
