Home on the Harbor Cleans House

clean-house.jpgJust got word that Karen Graveline's Home on the Harbor shop will be featured on the Style Network's Clean House. The episode airs next Wednesday (May 27th) at 9 PM. The show features host Niecy Nash helping families declutter. However, this is a very special episode: “Clean House: Search for the Messiest Home in the Country" and features the Baltimore Buechlers, who according to the web site: "have been married for six months, but Jiffy will not move in until Jim and his kids clean up their act. Is there any way Niecy & Co. can help these lovebirds build a nest together at last?" I guess we'll all have to tune in.

Cortez Pillow

cortezpillowteal18ins9.jpgcortezpillownavy18ins9.jpg

I'm looking for some new throw pillows to freshen up my (black) couch. They need to withstand a toddler who will jump on them/throw them on the floor/build a fort with them. I spotted these at Crate & Barrel this week. They don't really go with my color scheme ...but are they play space chic? Any other suggestions?

Happy Birthday

Hard to believe Whimsy | Reason is a year old! One of our favorite his and her boutiques has already become a destination spot in Federal Hill and has wowed us with some really great pieces (and amazing customer service) this year. Owner Jennifer Solomon asked me to pass along this invitation ...

Casama Chair

37358bp.jpg

I've been intrigued by this pattern I keep seeing in the window of Arhaus. Turns out it's patchwork fabric hand-crafted in a small village in India. I love the multi-cultural yet vintage feel. It's so different from anything I have in my house (I'm more of a modern girl) ... but every time I see it, it just stops me in my tracks. And it's on sale right now for $299—down from $659. Any intriguing pieces of furniture you've seen around town? —JED

Doggie Style Coming to Canton

new-ds-header.png

Doggie Style—the adorable pet boutique in Federal Hill—is opening a second location in O'Donnell Square. The Philly-based company will open their newest shop at 2924 O'Donnell Street (near Nectar Boutique) in about two weeks. Canton is lucky enough to have Dogma in nearby Brewer's Hill—especially with the loss of Dudley & Max (which by the way I'm told all their old merchandise is 75% off at the Big Iguana in Fells Point)—but with all the dogs (and cats) there should be enough love (and money) to go around. —JED

Bicycle Built for Three

tandembabyseat.jpg

How adorable is this Cynthia Rowley Tandem Logo Bicycle with baby seat? Maybe more Nantucket than Baltimore—but a girl can dream. Hmm, now that I have two little ones, I guess I need one with a baby seat and a sidecar? You can order this bike (just in time for Mother's Day) at CynthiaRowley.com. —JED

SquidFire's 2009 Spring Art Mart

artmart09-big.jpgI can't wait for Saturday's Spring Art Mart. The guys at SquidFire have done it again—more than 50 local and regional crafters selling their handmade wares. The event runs from 11-6 (rain or shine) in Mt. Vernon Square (between Charles and Cathedral Streets.) Click here for a list of vendors. I'll be there after the House Tour of Kid' Spaces in Federal Hill. —JED

Tee for Charity

charity_tshirt.jpgSaks Fifth Avenue has partnered with Charity: Water—a three-year old non-profit organization that brings clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Each $40 t-shirt purchased provides seven people with clean water for five years. The closest Saks to Baltimore is Chevy Chase—but it seems worth the drive for a worthy cause. Tees will be around through June. —JED

Tomatoes and Treasures

I was planning on hitting the Farmer's Market, under 83, yesterday morning but the rain kept me away. Well, it seems in addition to all my favorite things about the market (Zeke's coffee, samosas, flowers) the market now has a bazaar with arts, crafts, and collectibles. I have been disappointed with some of the crafters in the past—but I have high hopes for this group. They'll be located at the market near Guilford Avenue and Pleasant Street. Let me know what you think. —JED
