Where It's At

My mother and I love consignment shops. So, when she visited recently I went on a hunt for a mom-worthy store.  The store that kept popping up in my research was Wear It’s At—on Main Street in Reisterstown. We headed over Sunday after brunch, arriving around 12. It was amazing. I was a little skeptical thinking the place would be super tiny—but I was really wrong. The main room is filled with racks—juniors, sportswear, eveningwear, shoes, handbags, and jewelry. The best part was the little room off to the left side of the store —a secret gem. This is the good stuff—Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton—all reasonably priced considering the brand names and condition of the pieces. For the non-desinger crew there is everything from American Eagle to Juicy Couture to Chico's to Vera Bradley and BCBG. I was able to persuade my mother into thinking I needed many, many dresses to add to my wardrobe—an awesome light gray LA Made cotton dress with a rather large cowl neck, an ivory lace and tweed dress by Rebecca Taylor (never worn!), and a black one shoulder cocktail dress (with pockets!) by Ralph Lauren Black Label. I also bought a beautiful Nicole Miller asymmetrical tunic top and some funky gladiator style sandals. My mother was even more fortunate in her findings. She bought a beautiful black, gray, and ivory Chanel Jacket from 1994, a Kimono-style Prada dress ($98!!), and a long knit Fendi dress that was sporty and had a hood. It's a large space, and the service is excellent. Molly was working while we visited, and she was very honest, helpful, and sweet. We were there for FOUR hours—proof you can spend an entire day browsing, trying on clothes, and just chatting about business or the weather. My mom already misses the shop, ohh, and me. 49 Main St. Reisterstown, 410-526-2003, wearitsatconsignmentshop.com. —Nikki Reese, intern
