On Sunday evening, June 17, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Pier 5 Hotel, the Nataline Sarkisyan Foundation’s “Rising Stars” Benefit Fashion Show will debut young and seasoned couturiers presented by the Maryland Center of Fashion Design.
Nataline Sarkisyan was a young girl with dreams of creating her own fashion show. Those dreams never came true for Nataline when she lost her battle to leukemia in 2007.
After she passed away Nataline's Fashion Legacy was established. To make her dreams come to fruition, an annual fashion show is held in remembrance of Nataline. The ticket proceeds from the show (along with donations) are given to the Nataline Sarkisyan Foundation, providing scholarships for students studying fashion design, culinary arts, and healthcare.
One of Nataline's original sketches will grace the runway thanks to celebrity designer Pol Atteu, who brings one of her designs to life every year. Other participating designers will display their pieces as well, with styles ranging from fun, flirty looks, to wedding gowns.
The benefit fashion show, directed by Ella Pritsker (founder and director at the Maryland Center of Fashion Design), will showcase 15 of the school's Rising Stars. Join the participants to help keep Nataline's legacy and dreams alive. —Sharea Elliott, intern
