J Shoes + MICA

So, each year J SHOES teams up with Maryland Institute College of Art’s fiber department students for a “half pair collaboration.” Students selected five half pairs (single sample shoes) to develop a piece that related to the recession. Students were instructed to use only the materials found on the shoes themselves and adhering products (thread, glue, etc.) Awards were given out for most creative, most transformed, and most inspirational. Here are two of my favorites. —JED

Love it - finally a local company doing it right!
Uncertain economic times and someone is being pro-active, creative and optimistic.
Plus a value for the arts and the students!
A+ to that team in my book!
This is probably the best shoe company I have found in the last few years. keep it up J!
A big applause goes out to the students of MICA and J Shoes. This is amazing! I’m already looking forward to next year.
More photos please, tease with only two? Who won - what was the prize.
Give us the full story.
I LUV SHUZ - who doesn’t….and the ARTS….
Why don’t we hear more about this on CAMPUS?!!!
Very interesting!
The people at J SHOES have consistantly shown that there is a social obligation to share the benefits of their work with the community in which they live. Whether it be something for the less fortunate or something for the cultural part of Baltimore, J SHOES demonstrates that they are Baltimore!
